Dear Patients,
As of May 1st 2024 we will no longer be able to see patients who are not assigned to a current physician in the clinic. This includes paitients of Dr. Ghaffari, Dr. Makwati, Dr. Pan, and Dr. Sonuga. We have been doing our best to care for patientswho were attached to previous physicians of the clinic, however wedo not have the capacity due to a critical physician shortage and we are no longer able to provide thisservice. We recognize the hardship of this situation and are actively trying to recruit more physicians. We recommend these patients add their names to the Health Connect Registry so that they may be connected to a family practitioner when available.

Pharmacist services and prescriptions: You can visit a pharmacist to get assessed and offered treatment for 21 minor ailments or contraception. You may receive a prescription, be given advice for self – care or be advised to see another care professional for further assessment. This service isfree to all B.C residents with a Personal Health Number.
Pharmacists can also help you with emergency prescription refills.
Please read message from IH Department Head, Kootenay Area Labs:
“Legally labs are not allowed to process requisitions, and patients must see a new physician to get a new lab req or standing order.”
Patients will need to use the resources listed above to initiate a new lab requisition.

“Castlegar Medical Clinic is currently not accepting new patients at this time. The Health Connect Registry is a new region-wide patient registry in Kootenay Boundary for people who are looking for a physician or nurse practitioner. You can register for the Health Connect Registry at www.kbhcr.ca or by calling 8-1-1 for 24/7 health advice. Once registered, you will be contacted directly when a primary care provider is available.”

We encourage patients to book appointments for prescription refills at least 2-3 weeks prior to need.

What to expect and how to prepare for your appointment:
- Please come to the clinic wearing a mask if you are unwell.
- Only approved medical/surgical masks are an acceptable face covering in the clinic. Please ensure you bring one for your visit, cloth or home made masks are not acceptable.
Confidentiality and Privacy:
- All of our staff have signed confidentiality agreements and we are dedicated to ensuring patient privacy and confidentiality. We cannot guarantee the privacy of anything sent to us by email so we recommend you contact the office by phone for all inquiries.
Missed Appointments/Cancellations:
- If a patient misses 3 appointments without notifying the clinic at least 48h prior, they will be dismissed from the practice.
